🚶‍♀️ Moving around a world

Once you're in a world, just click to move in the direction you'd like to go. You can also use the arrow keys to move. When you get close to others, you will be able to see and hear them (up to 9 other participants/ guests). To leave a conversation, simply walk away, just as if you were mingling at a live event.

If you are in a world and connect with someone via video, you have the option to send a private message. Once you exchange messages with someone in Topia, you can stay in touch in the future even if you aren't connected via video 😊.

If enabled by the world owner, anyone guest in the world can share a screen within Topia. While sharing screen, that person’s video can be enlarged by other users.

We believe that face-to-face interactions are imperative to building meaningful relationships. So, we've designed Topia to optimize for face-to-face (e.g. video) conversations. As such, messaging is limited to 1:1 messages with people who you’ve connected to via video.

🚸 Follow the Leader

Whether you’re giving a tour, getting people to come to a certain area, or just walking and talking, sometimes you need people to follow you without getting lost or distracted. Well we’ve got you covered! You can initiate a follow request with the people around you by following these easy steps:

  • Hover over your own video screen and click the Follow button that appears on the right.

  • This will send everyone in your direct proximity a ‘toast’ notification on the bottom left of their screen letting them know you would like them to follow you.

  • If they click Follow in their notification, they will start automatically following you, moving wherever you do until the moment they click away.

  • To stop the follow, hover over your own video screen and click the Unfollow button on the right.

🚨 Block or Report a Guest

Regardless of user status, everyone has the ability to block or report another guest. When you block or report a guest, you will no longer see or hear them and they will no longer see or hear you. You will not receive messages from them either. The blocked guest will not be alerted that they've been blocked or reported. You can also unblock a person you blocked by mistake.

  • Hover over the video screen of the person you want to block and click the block or report button

To unblock a guest who you blocked accidentally, hover over their black video screen and click on the unblock button

* As a world owner, you can setup a notification to be alerted when someone in your world has been reported by using a report webhook.
