πŸŒ€  Add a Portal to Another Topia World

Portals are a great way to connect multiple Topia worlds together. They can be used to create private meeting areas or breakout spaces that all link to a main world. You can also create more interactive experiences by adding rabbit holes through other worlds - the possibilities are endless!

  • Make sure Builder Mode is active
  • Click on the asset you want to add the portal to
  • The Select drawer will open on the right. Click on the Configuration tab, then select Links
  • On the Links page, choose Portal to another world from the dropdown menu
  • In the field labeled Portal Link, enter the world URL (e.g.: https://topia.io/welcome) or simply add the url slug (e.g. /welcome)

  • If you want the portal to go to a specific location of the world instead of the world spawn point, enter the X: and Y: coordinates of the destination

When a user in your world clicks on the asset, a pop up will appear asking if the user wants to travel to another world.

πŸ›Ÿ  Resize Portal Spawn Radius

By default, a portal using coordinates of a destination will spawn users to that location of the world. You can expand the portal spawn point to a circular area around the location. Set the radius of the portal spawn size in pixels, expanding where users will randomly spawn in this area.

To expand the portal spawn radius:

  • Under Portal Spawn Radius, use the number slider to define the radius of the spawn point with min = 1, max = 500px

πŸ›Έ  Add a Teleport Link

Any asset can be made into a teleporter, allowing users to transport themselves to another location within your world in just one click.

First, decide where you'd like the teleport to lead to and then find the coordinates of the destination. To find the coordinates, follow these steps:

  • Walk to the desired destination in your world

  • Turn on Builder Mode
  • Click on any asset close to where your avatar is standing
  • The Select drawer will open on the right. Click on the Configuration tab, then select Links
  • On the Links page, select Teleport to another location in this world

  • Write down the X: and Y: coordinates listed at the bottom of the page. (e.g.: Your current position is: X= 1, Y = -29)

Add a Teleport Link

Next, add teleport to an asset:

  • Make sure Builder Mode is active
  • Click on the asset you'd like to transform into a teleporter
  • The Select drawer will open on the right. Click on the Configuration tab, then select Links.
  • On the Links page select Teleport to another location in this world

  • Enter the X: and Y: coordinates previously obtained from the destination

Now when a person clicks on the asset, a pop up will appear asking if they want to teleport to that location in the world.

πŸͺ‚  Create Unique Destination URLs

Holding a large event and need multiple entrances to your world? Need a link to sending people directly to your virtual office so you and others don't have to walk there? We've got you covered!

An external link can be made that sends a person to a specific location in a world by using the following url:

topia.io/example?spawnx=xxxx&spawny=xxxx&portal=true

  • Replace 'topia.io/example' with the url of the world

  • Then replace 'xxxx' after 'spawnx=' and 'spawny=' for the X: and Y: coordinates obtained from the destination people are being sent to.

πŸ—„οΈ  Embed a Toolbar Shortcut

Easily embed a clickable shortcut to the World Map, Events, Portals, Marketplace, you name it, World Builders. Topia drawers and pages can be opened with the simple click of an asset in your world. This linking option allows you to customize which Topia component your asset should open when clicked.

  • Make sure Builder Mode is active
  • Click on the asset you want to add a shortcut to
  • The Select drawer will open on the right. Click on the Configuration tab, then select Links
  • On the Links page, select Open a Topia application drawer or page

  • Then choose one of the following drawers or pages to open when this asset is clicked:

    • Create World Flow

    • My Account Worlds
    • Current Users Drawer
    • This World Drawer
