How to fix issues connecting to Topia
- Make sure you are using a laptop or desktop computer. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave web browsers are recommended.
- Check that you have WebGL / hardware acceleration enabled by going to https://get.webgl.org
- Make sure you didn't block your browser from connecting your camera or microphone to Topia. If you did, on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave:
- Click the site settings
icon in the URL address bar while in the Topia world (e.g. topia.io/welcome)
- A pop-up window will appear. Make Camera and Microphone are toggle on
- Click the site settings
- Make sure the privacy settings of your computer allows your browser to access your camera and microphone.
- On a Mac:
- Open System Preferences ➞ Security & Privacy
- Click Privacy and ensure the boxes are checked allowing your browser access to both your Camera and Microphone
- If they are checked and you are still having trouble, uncheck them, recheck them and then restart the browser
- On a Mac:
- Make sure you don’t have any web conferencing software open (like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc).
- Disable ad blockers, DuckDuckGo, browser extensions, or VPNs which may prevent the platform from working properly.
If All Else Fails
- Restart your web browser
- Close all other tabs / apps
- Try opening a Private or Incognito window (sometimes certain browser extensions interfere)

- It is be to have over 3 Mbps internet speed. To perform an internet speed test click here
- Camera and microphone browser permissions must be allowed to use your camera and microphone in Topia
- Camera and microphone inputs must be selected to be seen and heard
